Moving South

So here is just a little follow-up for those who were confused.

Who: Evans Family (aka Los Puerqueños, Aaron, Kelsey, Harmon, Sammy)
What: Moving to Ecuador
When: January 4th, 2012
Where: Cuenca, Ecuador
Why: Because we want to.  And feel like we should.

FAQs:
-What are you going to do there?  Aaron will work remotely, the kids and I will do what we normally do, which is play, except now we will mostly play with orphans.  We will all enjoy sunshine and 75 degrees every day, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and raising guinea pigs to eat.  Just kidding about the puerqueños.  We will only eat those in restaurants when you come to visit.

-How long will you be there?  Because we don’t have resident visa (yet) we had to buy round trip tickets, so we will be back to Seattle on June 12th.  But maybe we will stay longer.  It depends on many factors including money, enjoyment, etc.

-Why Ecuador?  I lived there in 2004 for 9 months and loved it.  I forced Aaron back several times and once to live in 2007-2008 for 6 months.  We know Cuenca (and much of the rest of the country) and love it.  We have some amazing friends there, and the orphanage program I worked with is there too.  I hope to be able to help them out some if they will have me!

-Are you crazy? Probably.  But that was apparent long before this decision.

So excited for you although sad to have our favorite air mattress heading south… We won’t have money to move to WA for a long time, so you are free to go for six months. Please be sure to get my approval before planning any longer stays.

Your heart is there and I think this is quite thrilling. I will begin hassling my spouse now so that he will leave the house and we can bring our little (huge) fatso pig to eat puerquenos with you pronto!

Good for you, and why not? I know your mommy will worry about you, but we are always worrying about something. She’ll come see you. I hope it is everything you have been yearning for and more.
